About the Trees

Ponderosa Pine: Extremely fire resistant and able to survive even if all their needles have burned off. Ponderosas can live over 600 years and grow to 130ft.

Coast Redwood: California's best-known tree and the tallest in the world, reaching 380ft. Alive for 3,000 years, these giants drink from the clouds.

Douglas Fir: Not a true fir — its genus name Pseudotsuga means "false hemlock". Regularly grows 300ft tall and lives over 500 years.

Incense Cedar: Actually part of the cypress family, misnamed because it has aromatic wood like true cedars. Pencils are traditionally made from it.
